A wakeboarding tribe? Cool!
Anybody who needs to ride when in Paris, drop me a msg! (yes, you can ride in Paris. From april to october)
And now, on with the obvious questions : which tricks can you land?

Tue, October 14, 2003 - 6:25 PMYup I'm right there with you. Haven't hit the wake 2 wake but I'm close.
I think. Funny, I think we have the same stance. I look the same when I go up..although I come straight back down. I'm Missing some speed I think.

Re: Which tricks can you land?
Wed, October 15, 2003 - 2:29 AMGirls, if i may, the reason you look like that in the air is because you have too much weight on your back foot. What you need to try is to go "up", not "far". For that, you need to even your weight on both legs and be very PROGRESSIVE while approaching the wake. Start really slow (in fact, let the boat pull you back into the curve) and get more and more speed (more edge) as you get towards the top of the wake. That should help a bit. If you try it, let me know how it goes... -

Re: Which tricks can you land?
Thu, October 16, 2003 - 3:20 PMCongrats Emily - it's a nice feeling isn't it.
To everyone, hello from Australia. We are heading into summer here (although the winter water tends to be pretty nice as well).
As for tricks, well I'm still trying to land a back roll -

Re: Which tricks can you land?
Tue, August 31, 2004 - 3:43 PMOlivier, Emily, and Andy, all have it right.
I did exactly what you said. With a greg nelson 135 four fin instead of my two fin evo 128, and I crossed the wake.
I couldn't hang on to the rope for the life of me, but I got the biggest pop I've ever gotten.
I actually felt the boat launch me across the wake instead of me trying to go across it.
Great feeling, I got my courage up after a while and after hitting my toe side went after my heelside and came very close.
Thanks guys.
I'm picking up a new board this week and can't wait to get out there again.

Re: Which tricks can you land?
Fri, October 24, 2003 - 7:34 AMthis past summer (or what we call a summer in new england) i was clearing wake-to-wake switch for the first time. i don't get to ride like i used to, but i like to just do really stalled-out, late 180's with grabs and stuff. a tantrum once in a while. i got one of those hyperlite wakeskates with the blue top the first year they came out and could clear the wake immediately, but i really haven't progressed much beyond that.

Re: Which tricks can you land?
Fri, August 6, 2004 - 2:50 PMWell here I am, Second season of aiming to make a wake 2 wake, and haven't yet.
Frustrated? Hell yeah I am!
So I started this season with a lesson on the delta. It was great an all day lesson with a great wakeboarder and three close friends.
Tricks I learned. A wake 180, an olie, and a butterslide.
Tips I learned. How to load the rope properly. How to hit the wake properly, and the importance of keeping the rope to the hip.
I've got plenty of pop, and a decent amount of speed. The guys can clear the wake no problem. I'm boarding behind one of the best boats out there, a super air nautique, with all the bells and whistles including ballist tanks. So why then oh why can't I cross the wake.
We figured last weekend that its approximatly 16 to 17 feet across. We tried bringing in the rope to 70 feet but I felt too close to the boat and got less pop closer in.
Here is what I am doing.
Heading out, to one side, beginning to edge slowly keeping the rope to my hip, edging harder and harder and hitting the wake at a 90 degree angle. Getting loads of pop, but I'm heading straight up and straight down. I get about two feet short of actually crossing the wake. My head is up, I'm looking across the wake, and not down.
If anyone has any ideas of what I can try please I would love to hear it.
If there are any woman who have been in the same place I would love to hear how you made it, and what you did to get there.
Thanks

Re: Which tricks can you land?
Tue, May 17, 2005 - 2:19 PMI don't know if you're still around nine months later, and if you've been boarding since then, you probably figured this out already. Since you are already getting the upward pop off the wake, your next step is to pop "through" the wake. A good way to do this is, right as you approach the bottom of the wake and are about to ascend up it, (this is the only way I can describe what to do) try to sink your board. Apply all the downward force you can, just like you're trying to force your board under the water. DO NOT point the nose down and into the water, but keeping your weight generally centered, push straight down. This should automaically cause you to lean away from the boat, causing more tension on the line, creating pop. But instead of that pop taking you right off the lip and straight up, you will actually break through the crest of the wake a little, creating more "across the wake" pop and momentum.
if you're still here and you have the chance to give this a try, let me know how it goes.

Re: Which tricks can you land?
Mon, June 19, 2006 - 9:18 PMI am not nearly as cool as Will, but yesterday was the first day of my season and it ROCKED! Think it is time we revive this topic (if anyone is out there and reads this tribe anymore)!
Yesterday, I landed the following (most of the tricks I can land):
Wake to wake heelside with Method, Indy and Roast Beef grabs
Wake to wake toeside
Ollie blind 180
Wake to wake heelside Half Cab
I can also do some other grabs, and surface stuff (surface 360 and what not).
This year, I swear I am going to learn some new stuff. However, after a blown ACL a few years back (after just doing a straight heelside W2W), I have mellowed out and doubt I will ever get into inverts or 360s... Sigh.
